So I've been doing the whole text message post blogging thing and today I got online only to see that is wasn't working. Check out my last 3 posts to see what I mean. With that said looks like I'm going to have to do it like this from now on. You really didn't miss anything it was mostly about being a mom and how 85% of the time my wonderful 5 year old soon to be 6 year old son makes my hair grey. Yes at 26 years old I have grey hair!

No don't get me wrong I love my little monsters. They are my world. But whoever said being a stay at home mom is easy. They get to take my two kids grocery shopping!!!!

Well now that that's over lol....

Nothings really new this week.

Speaking of worm bins my promise of posting about my worms and I keep not doing it, well thats because I'm not really happy with my worms right now. We are in week 3 (I think) of my worm bin and so far poop. No really poop a lot of poop but they don't seem to be eating a lot. My husband keeps telling me it takes time to just be patient but come on worms eat my garbage already. Ok so enough about all that. Fingers crossed for me that I win the Worm Factory it ends tomorrow woo hoo. I have never won anything so how cool would it be if I win a composter. I know I'm weird.

I will post some new stuff on Sunday let you know what I did this weekend and the next very exiting chapter coming up in my life!!!!!

Ok so on a more serious note if you guessed... starting my weight loss journey you would be 100% correct. I know a lot of you are saying "Why wait a month?" "Why not start now?" well because I have a few things I want to eat one last time lol. I know that's not really the answer some health nut is going to want to hear but oh well its the truth. Also I'm giving my foot a little more time to heal (all that don't know I had foot surgery on November 13th).

All About Pea's!!

Today is all about our garden. Its been a great family day!

cleaned out the chicken coop and my husband and kids picked all the pea's in our garden and cut it down to get ready to plant our summer crops.

I took pictures a while ago of our garden.

This is almost all pea's our first planting we did all pea's to enrich the soil.

The small bushes on the bottom left are Marigolds to attract the good bugs :)

These are some of our tomato plants with my 5 year old son to show size.

(we lost these to the cold this winter)

So today I cleaned my coop and spent some time with my girls. Can't wait for them to start laying eggs. I have one Delaware, two Silver Laced Wyandottes, and one Rhode Island Red.

My Delaware should be laying any day I was hoping for a Christmas egg but no such luck and we are still waiting.

I will post better pictures of my girls in a later post I plan to do one all about my chickens.

Back to the garden!

My husband and kids picked all the beans and cut down the stocks. He chopped them up and put it in the compost. We still have some lettuce, broccoli and flowers in our garden. We have strawberries we just planted in hanging baskets. We will now till all the rest under (including all my chicken coop poop and dirt from today's cleaning) and get ready to plant all our summer stuff. We plan on planting lots of tomatoes, jalapenos, squash, melons, and probably more I just don't remember now will let you know as we plan

This is how she picks beans from the garden to eat. Wonder why the fence is bent??

You can see the Marigold's bloomed here! You can also see how much taller the stocks are sence the pictures with my son.

One of the great things about Organic gardening is she picks it and eats it right there. A little dirt never hurt anyone and that's the only thing you really have to wash off our food.

My family loves to garden. My son has said to me "Mom I can't believe we have food growing in our own backyard.!" "That's so cool!"

We got a lot of beans from today's last picking!

Bowl O' Beans

I went threw and popped open all the once with big pea's in them and we cooked them up for dinner. Its an awesome thing to be able to pick our own food and cook it up the same day all from our very SMALL backyard. Between that and my chickens I don't feel quite as bad living in an HOA.

Yummy!

The taste of FRESH vegetables picked from your own garden and cooked the same day is just way way better then anything you can buy from the store. Also you don't lose all the good things in your food like vitamins etc. Store bought produce loses these every minute they sit and wait for you to buy them!

Nothing like Grilled chicken, fresh pea's from the garden, rice, and spinach.

A great end to a great day!!

Thanks for reading and I hope I inspired someone to maybe plant just a small garden it really is the best and only way to go. We plan on one day owning land and having a huge garden with year around food. We also plan to do meat and egg chickens along with meat and milk goats.

Here We Go Again!

So this is my second attempt at blogging. I hope to make this one a success.

This blog will be about me and my life as a mom, wife, and somewhat of an urban farmer.
